The Story of Paulie 'ChickenWing' Porkins
Slow, but tough and reliable. |
brain again, so I'm going to step
through creating a rebel Y-Wing
pilot who may not exactly be the best
in the fleet, and comes from a part of
Corellia that seems a lot like Jersey.
This is going to use REUP's version of
Star Wars, Revised and Extended 2nd
edition, we will use templates and the optional advantage/disadvantages system.
For our first step, we grab a template. There are hundreds of these floating around, but for
simplicity we will stick with what's in the book. Brash Pilot is a good starting point.
He is brash at least... |
Once we have the template, we tailor it by spending 7D on
skills or specializations.
We can also spend or gain additional dice with the
optional advantages/disadvantages
system.
Given that Paulie tended to engage in 'aftermarket sales'
of items which 'fell off a repulsorlift truck' back on Corellia,
we will give him a Released Convict disadvantage that gives
him an extra 1D to spend.
While you can break the Dice up to update skills with Pips
instead of full dice, we won't do that for the sake of simplicity.
Given his background and aspirations, I add 1D to Blaster(4D), 1D to Con(4D),
1D to Brawling(4D), 2D to Starfighter Piloting(6D) , 1D to Starship Gunnery(5D)
, and 1D to Streetwise(3D). Maybe if his Streetwise was better, he wouldn't have been
pinched by Corellian Security.
We still have 1D left from the Disadvantage. We will spend this to buy three Specializations.
In the same way that skills modify the base attributes, Specializations are a further focus on a Skill.
Paulie had some very shadowy dealings, so we give him a Streetwise specialty of 'Black Sun'.
Anytime Paulie makes a Streetwise check related to Black Sun, it will be at 4D, not 3D.
Furthermore, Paulie has been flying Y-Wings since he joined the Alliance, and while
he is not great at fighter to fighter combat, he shows promise with those bombing runs,
so he has a Specialty in Starfighter Piloting: Y-Wings and Starfighter Gunnery: Proton
Torpedoes.
