Star Trek Adventures: The Hippopla Typus
What follows is a race created at the request of a member of our gaming group who suggested he would play a 'Hippoplatypus' in a science fiction setting...
(Beware of what you ask for...)
Hippopla Typus
Original Series and The Next Generation only
The Hippopla Typus is a genetic amalgam of two now extinct sentient races that developed in the Typus start system. Typus A and Typus B shared the same orbit, but were on opposite sides of their system’s star. The Hippo Typus evolved on Typus A, and the Platy Typus evolved on Typus B.
Following a similar technological development, when the two species became aware of each other, panic, and eventually war ensued.
Both heavy atomic bombardment, as well as biogenic weapons were used, resulting in the ecosystems of Typus A & B to become inimical to both species.
Peace was achieved by the efforts of scientists on both worlds to combine their species into a form that could survive the now blasted hellscapes of their home worlds, resulting in the Hippopla Typus.
