Another never to use conversion idea: using the Coriolis Setting with the Savage Worlds RPG Part I

I did this one second, because it is almost a running joke that I always recommend this system, even where it is not appropriate...

Why use this system?
1. You can create diverse characters with a relatively small amount of mechanical overhead like Coriolis intends.
2. Characters are typically competent from the git-go, and growth increases scope of capabilities, but never does a character become a demi-god like in d20.
3. The lethality can be adjusted, and the default seems 'close enough'.
4. Full support of 'arcane powers' for Mystics.
5. Plenty of tools for Sci-Fi mayhem, and for this purpose I would reskin elements of Deadlands: Lost Colony which is also Sci-Fi with Horror.

Character Creation:

Since Coriolis is a Human-centric setting, I would have race or species represent Upbringing. It can also be used to easily generate a variety of Humanite characters as well.

Privileged: The movers and shakers of the Third Horizon.

Special Abilities

  • Privileged - (as Aristocrat): You were born into a higher station than most in the Third Horizon.
  • Cost of power: You either have a Major Secret or a Major Enemy. Why are you slumming across the Horizon?
  • Adaptable: Characters start with a free Novice Edge of their choice (and must meet all the Edge’s Requirements).

Stationary: Lives led in the Dark Between the Stars

Special Abilities

  • Traveller in the Dark - (as Gravitic Acclimation): Journeys in the dark places are inherently uncomfortable, but you are used to the variances caused by acceleration/deceleration
  • We are all the Deckhand - (Repair d4): Living in space, be it on a station or other vessel requires everyone to be aware of how things work, and how to fix things in an emergency.
  • No Steel Above or Below: Survival and Stealth skills are at a -1 when operating planetside.

Plebeian: The masses of the Third Horizon

Special Abilities

  • Whispers in the Alley - Streetwise: Plebeian's are quite familiar with the intricacies of navigating the streets that they call home, both literally, and figuratively.
  • Nowhere to go but up : The race has great variation among its people and cultures. Characters start with a free Novice Edge of their choice (and must meet all the Edge’s Requirements).
  • Poverty: (As Poverty Hindrance)
  • Debt: Nobody gets off the streets without a favor or two. You owe someone or somegroup. You may make this a Major Hindrance to forego the Poverty Hindrance.
So some rationalizations for the above choice based on the fiction:
- The Privileged are noted as power brokers. All those in power have enemies who wish to take it for themselves. These parties may not be entirely known to the character. They also have latitude with regards to their pursuits due to their influence.
- The Stationary will have some degree of technical prowess  as well as comfort in space travel. While they are the middle class, they have less latitude for their individual pursuits based on the nature of their environment.
- The Plebeian are the workers, the thieves, thee vast mass of humanity across the Horizon. They are used to navigating the street networks which represent the real power structures in their daily lives. They are also going to be part of the favor economy, willingly or not. Their lack of resources also, somewhat ironically, allows them more latitude in their pursuits as nobody bothers to keep watch on their movements and activities.

Equipment:
